Road Trip XXV Day 1: Ken and Kevin are now art connoisseurs

After making one of the most earth-shattering announcements in the history of road trip history, Kevin and I hit the road out of Nashville, heading north, with a couple of trusty DMDs in hand.

A few hours later we stopped for the obligatory Mexican dinner in Kentucky…

Service was terribly slow in our Kentucky restaurant and we finally figured out why: they had to go all the way to Indiana to get our food…

After a nice (albeit slow) meal we found a hotel in Lexington, KY, only to be greeted by this upon entering…

Turns out we were in an “Art Hotel.” The front desk clerk was sporting a well-trimmed beard, assorted piercings and a fashionable dress.

“Welcome, gentlemen,” he said. “If you need anything, just let us know.”

Then he directed us to our bedroom…

Instead of a Gideon Bible in the nightstand, we found this…

We didn’t know whether to wash our hair with this or dip tortilla chips in it…

The shower featured a rubber ducky and (of course) a full-length mirror…

We assumed these were owner’s children…

The hotel also offers unique wedding planning services…

And free personal care products if you forget yours…

Kevin made a new friend in the lobby…

As the clerk reminded us a few times, they want your stay to be as memorable as possible. Apparently many of their patrons are repeat visitors who enjoy their privacy…

Not sure if we’ll ever be back on a future road trip, but both Kevin and I now feel qualified to work at any museum in the world. If we ever stop doing road trips. Which we won’t.
