“Let’s stop by and take a look at the place my brothers were born,” I told Ken after learning we were going around Elizabethton, Tennessee on our way back to Knoxville from Boone, North Carolina, where we had lunch.
My dad, Bruce Slimp, and my mom, Loraine, owned the first radio and TV shop here, located on the town square. Now, 60 years later, I run into the family of my childhood neighbors, who now own an antique store downtown.
I’m glad we made the stop. Now for the final leg of Road Trip 23. On to Knoxville!
Nice shot of downtown Elizabethton, I moved from the town in 1957 when I was 16. It was a wonderful place to grow up.
