In case you were living under a rock in the late 1960s (or possibly not even alive yet), “I Dream of Jeannie” was a popular sitcom featuring astronauts, magic bottles and Barbara Eden’s belly button.
The entire show was set in Cocoa Beach, Florida, from which Major Nelson (played by Larry Hagman, of “Dallas” fame) participated in moonshots or some other kind of astronautical duties — it was never exactly clear.
Since Kevin and I happened to be in the neighborhood, we decided to find out what kind of tributes and honors the current city of Cocoa Beach pays to the show that put it on the map.
