10 things we’ve learned on our Western Canada road trip (so far)

1) Canadians are friendly.

We’ve been showered with gifts and helpful information.

2) There’s lots of international culture.

Sometimes it can be confusing for American visitors. 

3) It’s hardly ever dark.

Even at 10:00 p.m. it’s sunny and bright outside. Also, the sun comes up at 4:00 a.m. 

4) It’s a safe country.

Canadians are always looking out for your safety, and warning signs are everywhere. 

5) Canadian bacon is just ham.

Who knew?

6) Beware of “deals” for cabins.

I guess Canadians prefer a “closer to nature” experience that includes indoor wildlife and no hot water. 

7) Speaking of wildlife, it’s everywhere.

We saw caribou, deer, moose, eagles, chipmunks, ground squirrels and bears yesterday.  

8) It’s not hot.

I’m told it was 104 degrees in Dallas yesterday. 

9) The cities are fun. 

Banff is no Gatlinburg, Tennessee, but still. 

10) There’s beauty everywhere. 

Beauty, eh!
